Avana 100 mg (avanafil 100 mg) is generally considered safe and well tolerated for long-term, as-needed use in appropriately selected adults with erectile dysfunction. However, long-term safety depends on your overall health, cardiovascular status, and any other medications you take. A 52-week extension study involving more than 700 men found that avanafil maintained its effectiveness over one year and was generally well tolerated. Fewer than 3% of participants discontinued treatment because of side effects. The most commonly reported side effects were headache, flushing, nasal congestion, and Avana 100 cold-like symptoms. What We Know About Long-Term Safety Studies up to 52 weeks have shown sustained effectiveness and acceptable tolerability. No major liver safety concerns have been identified, and avanafil has not been strongly linked to clinically significant liver injury. Common side effects remain similar with long-term use: headache, flushing, nasal congestion, and occasional back pain. When Long-Term Use May Be Less Safe Extra caution is needed if you: Take nitrate medications (nitroglycerin, isosorbide). Have unstable heart disease or severe low blood pressure. Have recently had a heart attack or stroke. Have significant liver or kidney impairment. Take medications that strongly affect CYP3A4 metabolism (certain antibiotics, antifungals, and HIV medications). Monitoring During Long-Term Use If you're using Avana 100 mg regularly, it is reasonable to have periodic checks of: Blood pressure Cardiovascular health Kidney and liver function (especially if you have existing disease) .
