I’ve been thinking lately about how tricky it is to run ads for fintech startups. Has anyone else noticed how different it feels compared to normal product ads? Like, people don’t just “click and buy” when it comes to money apps or finance tools. It always feels like there’s an extra layer of trust needed.
When I first started looking into Ads for Fintech, I honestly thought it would be similar to other digital ads. But it wasn’t that simple. The biggest problem I kept running into was low engagement. People either ignored the ads or clicked but didn’t sign up. And the approval rules on some platforms also felt strict. Even when traffic came in, it didn’t always convert the way I expected.
Another thing I noticed was how sensitive audiences are in this space. If the ad feels even slightly “too salesy,” people just scroll away. So it becomes less about pushing and more about explaining, which took me a while to understand.
I tried a few different approaches. At first, I used very direct messaging like “open an account fast” or “low fees trading app,” but that didn’t work well. Later, I shifted to simpler, problem-based messaging like “tired of high banking fees?” or “want easier money transfers?” That small change made a noticeable difference in clicks.
I also learned that targeting matters more than I thought. Instead of broad audiences, narrowing it down to people already interested in finance tools or investment topics gave better results. Even creatives mattered more than budget sometimes.
What really helped me improve results was combining better targeting with more natural ad placement options and testing small variations often. I’m still experimenting, but I’ve realized that fintech ads need patience and constant tweaking rather than a “set it and forget it” approach.
I also came across a useful resource while researching different ad approaches here: ads for fintech which helped me understand how finance-focused campaigns are usually structured. It gave me a better idea of how to think about traffic quality instead of just volume.
