I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at the age of 12. By my early 20s, I was still dealing with the same symptoms. But by the time I was 26, I had finally healed myself naturally. Through this journey, I discovered three essential components to healing: nutrition, exercise, and faith. Each one played a vital role in overcoming Crohn's, or any health challenge you may face.

At first, it seemed strange to hear that food could have an impact on Crohn's.
My doctors told me that diet had nothing to do with the condition. At the time, it sounded crazy. How could food really affect the way my digestive system functioned? I followed a relatively healthy diet for years, occasionally experimenting with foods I knew were harmful. But I never received proper guidance on what to eat or how to eat in a way that supported healing.

Eventually, I found that each person is different, and what works for one may not work for another.
I discovered that certain food groups triggered my symptoms and led me to adopt the Low FODMAP diet, which proved to be especially effective. The process of adjusting my diet took time, but eventually, I experienced relief. The relief was so profound and uplifting that I rarely missed the unhealthy foods I used to crave.

Exercise also played a key role in my healing.
As a child, I was out of shape and weak. I didn't exercise as much as I should have. My diagnosis was a wake-up call to improve my physical health. I started with walking, which led to running. Soon, I was doing thousands of push-ups and ab exercises weekly. As I grew older, I incorporated weightlifting into my routine. Exercise proved to be a powerful tool not just for physical strength but also for mental and emotional resilience. It helped me regain confidence and, in turn, improved my symptoms. Again, fitness is intuitive and varies for each person.

Lastly, faith played a significant role in my healing journey.
For years, I overlooked the power of faith in my efforts to overcome Crohn's. I had grown up in a religious environment, but faith had little place in my previous attempts at healing. What was missing, I realized, was the belief that God could intervene and that I could be healed. I began to seek divine guidance and asked for better health. This faith, combined with an unwavering belief in my ability to heal, became the final piece of the puzzle.

As I deepened my relationship with God and the Word, faith became an intuitive part of my health.
If God created us in His image, then a sick and weak body could not reflect His goodness. While I acknowledge that there are cases where we cannot explain the reasons behind certain health conditions, I do not believe that a merciful God would impose a debilitating condition on anyone.

In the end, healing requires more than just diet and exercise.
It also requires a strong faith and a belief that you can recover. If you're struggling with any health issue, I encourage you to explore the triad of nutrition, fitness, and faith. Each one can play a key role in your journey to wellness.
