Rifaxiheal 400 mg contains Rifaximin 400 mg, an antibiotic that works locally in the intestines with very minimal absorption into the bloodstream.

Common Uses

Doctors may prescribe Rifaxiheal 400 mg for conditions such as:

- IBS-D (Irritable Bowel Syndrome with diarrhea)
- Traveler’s diarrhea (caused by E. coli)
- Hepatic encephalopathy prevention (reduces ammonia-producing gut bacteria)
- Certain cases of infectious diarrhea

How It Works

- Rifaximin stays mostly inside the gut and helps:
- Reduce harmful bacteria
- Reduce inflammation
- Improve stool consistency and decrease diarrhea

Usual Dosage (doctor-determined)

- Dosage depends on the condition:
- Traveler’s diarrhea: often short course
- IBS-D: usually a fixed multi-day regimen
- Hepatic encephalopathy: long-term maintenance
- Never self-prescribe. Rifaximin must be taken exactly as advised by a healthcare professional.

Possible Side Effects

Most are mild:

- Nausea
- Headache
- Bloating or gas
- Abdominal pain
- Fatigue

Rare:

- Severe allergic reaction
- Persistent diarrhea (C. difficile risk)
- Important Precautions
- Tell your doctor if you have liver disease.
- Not effective for diarrhea with fever or blood in stool.
- Avoid if allergic to rifamycin antibiotics.

Drug Interactions

- Other antibiotics
- Warfarin
- Immunosuppressants
