Many teams focus on passing tests, but without tracking code coverage, it’s hard to know which parts of the code are actually being exercised. Coverage metrics help identify untested paths, branches, and conditions that could hide critical bugs.

Instead of obsessing over a percentage, it’s more effective to analyze which areas are uncovered. Complex logic, frequently modified modules, or critical business flows deserve priority. By combining coverage analysis with targeted testing, teams can reduce blind spots, improve regression confidence, and make informed decisions about where to add new tests.

Code coverage isn’t just about measuring—it’s about guiding smarter testing. When used strategically, it turns testing from a reactive process into a proactive, risk-aware approach that strengthens overall software reliability.
