The Indian government has significantly simplified the entry process for international visitors through its electronic visa (eVisa) system. This system offers several categories of electronic authorization, eliminating the need for applicants to visit an Indian embassy or consulate in person.
Types of eVisa and Main Requirements
Tourist eVisa: Allows entry for all travel purposes. A traveler's passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of arrival in India.
Business eVisa: Valid for one year from the date of issuance, it allows multiple entries within that period. Holders are permitted a maximum continuous stay of 180 days per visit.
