Many people think the price trend of mild steel pipe should stay more or less the same, but the truth is, it’s influenced by many things. One of the biggest reasons is the cost of raw materials. MS pipes are produced using steel, which in turn is made from iron ore or scrap metal. If the global price of these materials rises, the cost of making MS pipes also goes up.
Apart from that, energy plays a major role. Steel manufacturing requires a lot of electricity and fuel. When fuel prices increase—like diesel or coal—it directly affects production costs. That increase eventually reflects in the selling price of the pipes.
Transport and logistics also impact the final price. Since MS pipes are bulky and heavy, moving them from factories to warehouses or local shops is a big job. If fuel prices rise or transport is delayed, the extra cost is added to the product.

Just like many products in construction, MS pipes follow a seasonal demand pattern. During the rainy season or peak winter months, construction slows down. As a result, the demand for MS pipes drops slightly, which may cause prices to level out or even go down temporarily.
On the other hand, during dry seasons—especially from late winter to early summer—construction and agricultural work pick up pace. This increase in activity brings higher demand, which usually pushes prices up. Smart buyers try to plan ahead and make bulk purchases before the price rise begins.
