Southwest Airlines Pet Policy allows small vaccinated domestic cats and dogs to travel in-cabin with their owners. Pets must be carried in an approved airline-compliant pet carrier that fits under the seat. A pet fare is required per carrier, and each passenger may bring one carrier containing up to two pets of the same species. Southwest Airlines Pet Policy does not allow pets to fly in cargo. Reservations for pets are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, as there’s a limited number of pet slots per flight. Service animals are permitted separately under different guidelines from the standard pet policy.
