Over the past few years, bleached hardwood kraft pulp price trend have fluctuated due to several factors. The COVID-19 pandemic caused some disruption in supply chains and production. Many pulp mills faced temporary closures or reduced output. Meanwhile, the demand for paper products was mixed — some categories like packaging and tissue saw increased demand, while printing paper declined due to the shift toward digital media.
Energy prices have also influenced pulp production costs. Making pulp is energy-intensive, so rising fuel and electricity costs tend to push prices upward. Raw material availability, such as access to hardwood logs, can impact costs as well.
In 2023 and early 2024, prices showed moderate recovery as demand stabilized and supply chains improved. However, some volatility remained due to inflation concerns and global economic uncertainties.
