Paper.io is a real-time multiplayer game developed by Voodoo, a French mobile game publisher known for lightweight, highly addictive games. Released initially in 2016, the game has since evolved into a popular title across both browser platforms and mobile apps.
At its core, the objective of paper io is to claim as much space as possible on a shared map, competing against other players who are doing the same. Each player controls a square avatar that leaves behind a colored trail. By enclosing sections of the map and returning to your base, you convert that enclosed space into your territory.
But there’s a catch — you’re vulnerable whenever you're outside your base. If another player crosses your trail before you make it back, you lose. The result is a tense, fast-paced battle for map control.
