Vilitra 40 contains vardenafil, a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction. It affects blood pressure by relaxing smooth muscles and dilating blood vessels, particularly in the penile region, but it also impacts systemic circulation. By inhibiting PDE5, Vilitra 40 mg increases cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) levels, leading to vasodilation and decreased vascular resistance. This action can lower blood pressure, especially in individuals taking other blood pressure medications or those with underlying cardiovascular conditions. Although the effect is usually mild in healthy individuals, caution is necessary for those with hypotension or taking nitrates, as the combination can cause dangerous drops in blood pressure.
