So something is being updated in the background which the app cannot load when attempting to use it, which is most likely that the app needs to be updated (or one of the Google apps and services needs to be updated).
I recommend you go to the Google Play Store and go into the settings, then to the "About" section in the settings, then choose "Update Play Store\" to see if there are any updates.
Then a message will either tell you that you already have the most recent version or a new version will be downloaded… in that case, wait for it to complete. Then you should go into the Play Store and see if there are any updates for the "Google\" app itself, and update it.
