Every time I visit Cox’s Bazar, the 120 kilometres of uninterrupted golden coastline, I feel like the region is missing out on a huge opportunity. Compare this: Singapore has become a world-class resort, Macau is rivalling Las Vegas, Vietnam has opened casinos to foreign tourists. But the natural resources around the Bay of Bengal – particularly in Bangladesh and along the east coast of India – are just as good, and often better.
Integrated casino resorts are creating thousands of jobs in hotels, restaurants, entertainment complexes and retail. And while religious and legal restrictions, such as the 1867 Public Gambling Act, are holding back development, some countries in the region are beginning to reconsider. The economy and tourism demand change.

Absolutely agree. We are missing out. Cox's Bazar is not just a beach. It is a huge platform for job creation and attracting international tourism. It is important not just to legalize casinos, but to create a regulated, transparent and ethical system. If done correctly, it will be a boost to the country's economy.

We should not be afraid of change. Casinos are not always about gambling. They are about infrastructure, investment, hotels, restaurants and international flow of visitors. Look at the examples in Asia - they are inspiring. It is time to think: do we want to stay on the sidelines or develop the coastline to world standards?
