Even industries that were once thought to be safe because of their specialized knowledge or experience are now vulnerable. For instance, artificial intelligence (AI)-driven code generators and open-source alternatives are upending the long-standing and expanding field of software development. The dominance of traditional enterprise software vendors is being challenged by these technologies, which forces businesses to innovate or risk becoming obsolete. Innovation, however, is easier said than done. A lot of businesses are reluctant to give up their tried-and-true strategies, preferring to play it safe until market conditions force them to.
