Reolink cameras are a great choice for anyone looking to install an affordable smart security system. The company's cameras are inexpensive and come in a range of styles, making it easy to find one that fits your needs.

The RLC-842A is a dome-shaped camera with a metallic base and a transparent top, both designed to withstand hammer blows. It also comes with a secure mount for mounting it on the ceiling or wall.

It's a good-looking camera that's easy to set up and install. It uses a PoE (Power over Ethernet) connection to connect to your network and has a built-in battery for power. It's available in two versions: a wired and an outdoor model, which uses solar panel and DC power.

You'll need a router that supports PoE to get the cameras up and running. Reolink Promo Code recommends a Cisco Catalyst 945 for a fast connection, but the RLC-842A also works with older Cisco switches.

Reolink's software is a step up from most other brands, including Arlo, thanks to desktop and smartphone apps that let you set up and manage the entire system. You can even tweak some settings remotely and playback video feeds and recorded videos from the cameras on your laptop or mobile device.

Reolink's cameras can stream their video to Alexa and Google Assistant, but setting up that feature isn't quite as straightforward as you might expect. You can preview the video on an Alexa or Google Home app, but to actually watch it, you need a compatible smart display like a Google Home Hub or Echo Show.
