If you have a Netgear Nighthawk Modem, you have made an excellent choice. While the applications you use to connect with it may not be the most beautiful works of art, when it comes to performance, you're in good hands. However, there are several frequent concerns that you may wish to fix but are unsure where to begin. Here are some short troubleshooting suggestions.
Changing your network name (SSID) and password
By default, your network name will be something related to the router, such as "NETGEAR84-5G," and your password will be absolutely random and written somewhere on the router. Understandably, you wish to update these.
When you log into the web app, you'll see both of these options under wireless. Change them to something more memorable and one-of-a-kind, and remember to hit apply before leaving.
How can I upgrade the firmware on my router?
Your router, like your computer or phone, will need to be updated from time to time. The simplest method is to log in to the web app as described previously. If there is a new firmware, you will see a notification at the top of the window informing you of it.
The option to update may be found on the app's advanced tab and under the administration section. The update will be provided with a one-click download and installation of the newest firmware to maintain your router operating at peak performance.
