The Study of Basics

 

The required courses (101, 201 and 301 Classes) are one year program and designed for both who want to learn enough to keep fit and those who want to lay good foundation for advanced learning.  

 

101 Classes: Basics & Yang Style Taiji
Duration: Four Months w/32 Hrs
 
Learning Objectives: As you complete this learning area, you should understand and be able to do all the following drills

Note:
24-Form Routine is the core of 101 Course. The reason we have students learn this routine is not only that it is the Chinese national standardized and has become the most popular but also it is has become the common language among the Taiji practitioners. Besides, this routine is of Yang Style and easy to learn for the beginners.
 
201 Classes: Chen Style Taiji
Duration: Four Months w/32 Hrs
 
Learning Objectives: As you complete this learning area, you should understand and be able to do the following Chen Style Routines:
 
1.          Four Key Movement Repetition Routine
2.          Thirteen-Form Routine

1.          Warrior pounds mortar
2.          Lazily tying coat
3.          Six sealing and four closing
4.          Single Whip
 
201-2   Thirteen-Form Routine
1.          Warrior pounds mortar
2.          Lazily tying coat

5.          Ground Dragon
6.          Stand on one leg
7.          Three steps backward
8.          White Crane spreads wings
9.          Oblique walk & Single whip

Note:
 
Chen Style Taiiji is the oldest and from which all other styles originate and develop. Chen Style Taiiji focuses more on Dantian and more circling and coiling movements compared to Yang Style Taiji. These two short routines are must-learn for those who want to really understand Taiji.
 
  
301 Classes: The Internal & Dan Tian
Duration: Four Months w/32 Hrs
 
Learning Objectives: As you complete this learning area, you should understand and be able to do the following exercises:

2.          Dan Tian Rotation Drill
3.          Dan Tian Utilization Drill
 
301-1    Dan Tian Breathing Drill
(Dan Tian Reverse Deep Breathing)
 
Six moves of inhaling and exhaling to complete one cycle.
1.          Inhale: breath in normally and raise hands to TanZhong,
2.          Exhale; breath our reversely and point thumbs to QiHai (Ocean of Qi)
3.          Inhale: middle fingers point to MingMen (open the Life Gate)
4.          Exhale: squatting down, relax and adjust breathing
5.          Inhale: massage Dantian
6.          Exhale: LaoGong and YongQuan meet
 
301-2    Dan Tian Rotation:
1.          Horizontal circulation: Qi-Hai and Ming-Men
2.          Vertical circulation: Hui-Yi, Ming-Men, Jia-Ji, Tan-Zhong, and Qi-Hai
3.          Diagonal circulation:       
 
301-3    Dan Tian Utilization:
Dan Tian Utilization is achieved by doing Dan Tian 24 Circling Movements or 24 Yin-Yang symbol Circling. The drill is to co-operate internal Dan Tian movement with external arm movements.
 
Dan Tian 24 Circling Movements:
1.          Holding ball left side and open right side
2.          Right hand clockwise circling
3.          Right hand clockwise plus small circling
4.          Right hand counter-clockwise circling
5.          Right hand counter-clockwise plus small circling
6.          Holding ball right side and open left side
7.          Left hand counter-clockwise circling
8.          Left hand counter-clockwise circling plus small circling
9.          Left hand clockwise circling
10.       Left hand clockwise plus small circling
11.       Double hands cross circling
12.       Figure eight circling
13.       Holding ball both sides
14.       Double hands clockwise circling
15.       Double hands counter-clockwise circling
